NEXT OPEN DAY – T.B.A – (Last One Held 6 August)
Periodically Sutherland Croquet Club opens its doors to provide the public with an opportunity to try the game without committing to membership. Croquet is quite unique as a sport in that can be played by all ages, both men and women and on an equal footing. Likened to chess or snooker played on a lawn with a mallet, it is a tactical “thinking” game, which is sociable yet competitive.
(In order to get an idea as to how the game is played you might care to visit ‘The Game’ page on this website and look at the slide show or videos, although this is not essential as we will personally help you understand how it all works).
On Open Days Sutherland Croquet Club welcomes members of the public to drop in between 9.30 and 1.00 and experience the game for free. It is suitable for all ages but children need to be accompanied by an adult. All equipment will be provided and club members will be on hand to provide some tuition. (In the interest of our lawns you will need to wear flat soled shoes).
Naturally we would like to think you may consider joining our club or signing up for some longer term coaching, but there is absolutely no obligation for you to do so.
Sutherland Croquet Club occupies the grounds attached to the Sylvanvale Disability Centre, Old Princes Highway, Sutherland. (Adjacent to the Aquatic Centre, Waratah Park). Access is through the gates at the end of the Police Citizens Club car park. Click here for Google maps. Should you require any further information please phone John Cole 0435162299.
It’s fun and free….. We hope to see you
(Note: In the event of extreme wet weather the Open Day will be re-scheduled)
